Royal Ascot - including Ladies Day

This is a new list so I will not have got all of the important and the most interesting events. If you have any ideas of other events that I should include please let me know.

Dear friends, fans and fellow interesting people,

The welcome sight of daffodils blooming across the British countryside means that we are dusting off our summer diaries in readiness for the many exciting events ahead. The last few months have been packed as ever. Harrods is going remarkably well despite the tales of doom and gloom in the financial markets. Our successes seem to be further testament to the fact that people want unique and beautiful things. Anna Wintour was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal in February and she endorses these current feelings saying "I think we need to give women the aspirational clothes that can make them dream." Hoorah for that!

Now is the ideal moment to indulge in some time planning what to wear through the Spring Summer season. I have started to compile a list of dates of various events which I will be publishing on a calendar page on the website soon but in the meantime I have included the ones that I know of so far. Ladies Day at Ascot is always centre stage for many. No doubt you will want to plan your outfits early especially as things tend to get pretty busy nearer the time. If you have a full diary then organising a collection of two and piece outfits cleverly selected in toning colours will allow you to mix and match creating a different look for each occasion.

Even if you don't want to buy a whole new outfit, then you can invest in a special signature piece to go with something you already have in your wardrobe. If you give us enough time then we can seek out the perfect piece of fabric or paint something especially to complement the colours you know you already love.

After the bouts of seriously cold icy weather this winter, I am sure that like me you are really looking forward to feeling the warmth of the summer sun.

Looking forward to seeing you soon

All the best

Georgina

Feature Film celebrating our British eccentricities - bearded men waving hankies and thwacking sticks, Morris Dancing refuses to die.
Derecq Twist leading Morris into a new era

Morris dancing has been hitting the headlines in recent months. First because our traditional culture of Morris is supposed to be dying out. Shortly afterwards the feature film 'Morris: A Life with Bells On' rapidly contradicted this statement. The film has captured the imagination of the many people who want to see it. They are likening it to great success stories such as The Full Monty, Calendar Girls, Hot Fuzz even Mamma Mia! And we are very proud to be a part of it.

We only did a few of the costumes for one particular character but the film is such an iconic and humorous tribute to our British culture we would still support it even if we were not involved. But it is proving quite a challenge for the film makers to persuade the distribution companies that it is worth releasing. They seem to think that there are not enough people who are interested in Morris Dancing. The public beg to differ as displayed by the massive interest, especially online. You can read more by following the links below.

Congratulations to Inge Borg Scott - artist.

Great news for one of our friends Inge Borg Scott - she has been invited to do a solo exhibition of her paintings in the Royal Academy in November 2009. Inge has some amazing pictures which I am hoping we can show you nearer the time. She is seen here (in one of our dresses) with John Major to whom she is handing over the portrait she did for him. If you would like to know more then you can send an email to us using the contact form on the main site.
